This tune is a cover of the Foundation trio who are best known in this video :
In the picture, Foundation members from left to right :
– Everton “Ipal” Thomas
– Emilio “Pupa” Smiley (or also called Emilius “Fatha” Smiley”)
– Errol “Keith” Douglas
As a reminder, in this video the guys went to Jack Ruby who is overwhelmed : he has just finished Burning Spear albums which have been hits. Ruby invites them to go see another producer.
Finally the first album will be released 15 years later, at … Jack Ruby’s.
Obviously it was too late, as the sound of 88 was not so dread.
I always wondered what it would be like to see what would have been mixed at the time, if it had been recorded in the right timing. And so did I this cover !
I actually composed the riddim in 2018 and thought this text matched well with it.
But the idea of releasing a cover for my first official release really bothered me.
This is the reason why this track will never be pressed on vinyl.
